All individuals holding a WSDA pesticide or Structural Pest Inspector (SPI) license must complete recertification requirements every five years in order to maintain their license. This may be accomplished by attending WSDA approved recertification courses or by retesting. The type of license you hold determines the extent of your recertification requirement.

RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

There are two methods of meeting recertification requirements.

METHOD 1: Accumulate the Appropriate Number of Credits Within Recertification Period

Limited and Rancher Private Applicators

Limited Private Applicators (LPA) must earn 8 credits.

Rancher Private Applicators must earn 12 credits.

Neither license has restrictions on the number of credits earned per year. All credits earned for the LPA license must be directly or indirectly related to weed control.

Private Applicators

Must earn 20 credits.

May not earn more than 10 credits each calendar year.

All other license types

Must earn 40 credits.

May not earn more than 15 credits each calendar year.

METHOD 2: Retesting

If you did not earn sufficient credit for your license type, you must retest and pass each category in which you wish to remain licensed and, in some cases, the Laws & Safety exam.
